On behalf of Herne Bay Lifeguard & Swimming Club we would like to welcome you and your child to the Club.

The Club is a competitive swimming club, which provides opportunities for young people to receive coaching in a friendly environment as well as the chance to join in swimming competitions at various levels. We hope you enjoy your time as a Club member and that your swimming technique and stamina continue to improve during the coming years. Club members only may join our Facebook page (which is a closed group for Club members) for informal news and information - search for 'Herne Bay Swimming Club' and request to join. This section of the website contains some basic information about our structure, sessions, fees and hopefully answers some of the questions you may have. Once you are a fully-fledged member, you will be given access to the members area which will give you all of the information you need to be an active member of the Club.

The HBSC Membership registration
ONLY fill in once you have been accepted after a trial. You will then need to email us to decide which nights you wish to swim according to the availability we have. Please note: that on this form we require emergency contact information for TWO adults. Fill it in HERE

The ASA Registration Forms
You will find two forms, one to be completed by the parent /guardian and the second to be completed by the swimmer. You can download these forms here. The ASA Membership Secretary will then send these forms to the ASA. You and your child will then be allocated an ASA number and will receive an ASA card.

Child Protection policy
Please sign and return this form to the club shop for the Welfare Officer - the club shop is located at Herons Leisure Centre and is open during swim sessions.

Swimmers code of conduct
We expect all swimmers to sign up to our Code of Conduct to ensure all swimmers know what is expected of them. Please sign and return this form to the Club Shop.

Once we have the forms you will be given online access to our members’ area where swimmers can see their latest swimming times & invoices, order kit, enter upcoming galas and competition results.

Swim Club Manager is the interactive system we use to run the club and interface with swimmers, parents, coaches and club officials alike. All parents and swimmers are encouraged to be active on the system.

You can update the system at any moment - If the registration information you have provided changes at any time please ensure your online account is kept up to date.

Where & when do we swim?

Currently, we swim four nights a week at Herons Swimming Pool, Herne Bay, or Whitstable Swimming Pool. Both are operated by Active Life.

23 Apr 2024Tuesday 23rd April 2024 - Club Champs Session 4 (200m IM) - No Club Training
Our Club Champs 2024 Session 4 for the Lanes 1-6 (plus invites only) is on Tuesday 23rd April 2024 at Whitstable. Acceptances have all been sent out by email to everyone. Reminders have also been emailed out to remind there is no training on the 23rd April. Session 4 will be a fantastic opportunity for Lanes 1-6 (and a few invites from Lane 7) to gain racing experince in a familar setting and to gain a first time or new PB in their 200m Individual Medley Event. The Session 4 is for Lanes 1-6 inclusive plus a few invites from Lane 7. The Session 4 is Licensed as a Level 4 competition, so any early qualifying times could be bagged for next years Kent County Champs. No regular Senior Training will run on Tuesday 23rd April 2024 if you are not participating in this Session's Event(s). Non-participant Club members who wish to support their team mates are of course more than welcome to watch the Session on Tuesday 23rd April from the Reception area.

18 Mar 2024Tuesday 19th March 2024 - Club Champs Session 3 (800m Free) - No Club Training
Our Club Champs 2024 Session 3 is only for those swimmers who have applied to enter the 800m Event. It is on Tuesday 19th March 2024 at Whitstable. Accepted Entries have all been sent out by email to everyone. Reminders have also been emailed out there is no training to those who declined their invite or did not respond to the 800m Event Invite. No further entries can be accepted due to Session time constraints. Session 3 will be a fantastic opportunity for swimmers to gain long distance racing experince in a familar setting and to gain a first time or new PB in their 800m Freestyle Event. The Session 3 is only for those swimmers who have applied and have been accepted to enter the 800m by the Closing Date. Session 3 is Licensed as a Level 4 competition, so any early qualifying times could be bagged for next years Kent County Champs. No regular Senior Training will run on Tuesday 19th March 2024 if you are not participating in this Session's Event. Non-participant Club members who wish to support their team mates are of course more than welcome to watch the Session on Tuesday 19th March from the Reception area.

Session 1A will be a fantastic opportunity for new Juniors (and not so new Juniors) to gain racing experince in a familar setting, and for Seniors Squad to gain a first time or new PB in their 400m IM. The Session 1A is for Lanes 6-10 inclusive for all Junior Squad swimmers who have accepted their Invite by the Closing Date. The Session 1B is for Lanes 1-5 inclusive for all Senior Squad swimmers who have accepted their Invite by the Closing Date. The Senior Session 1B is Licensed as a Level 4 competition, so any early qualifying times could be bagged for next years Kent County champs. No regular Club Training Session will run on Friday 1st March 2024 if you are not participating in this Session's Event(s).
