Kents March 2014

Seventeen swimmers from Herne Bay Swimming Club recently competed at the Kent County ASA Swimming Championships, where they won a total of one gold, six silver and five bronze medals, and eight individual club records were broken.

The gold medal was won by Zack Rothman who completed the boys 12yrs 50m fly in 32.27 seconds. Silver medals went to Zack Rothman in the boys 12yrs 50m freestyle and the boys 12yrs 100m fly, Georgia Miles in the girls 14yrs 50m breast, the girls 14yrs 100m breast and the girls 14yrs 200m breast, and Adam Miles in the boys 11yrs 200m fly. Bronze medals went to Georgia Miles in the girls 14yrs 400m individual medley, Adam Miles in the boys 11yrs 200m backstroke, Jordan Butler in the boys 16yrs 100m backstroke, Chloe Gambrill in the girls 15yrs 200m fly, and Adam Miles in the boys 11yrs 400m individual medley .

Club records were broken by Jordan Butler in the boys 15/16yrs 50m backstroke and Georgia Miles broke an impressive seven club records across varying distances in breaststroke, backstroke and the individual medley.

Swimmers attending from Herne Bay were: Ellie Buchanan, Amber Butler, Jordan Butler, Tilly Compton, Jake Fox, Chloe Gambrill, Amilia Gillies, Sam Goodwin, Thomas House, Polly McCurrach, Adam Miles, Georgia Miles, Connor Reynolds, Gabriella Rothman, Zack Rothman, Ella Walton and Robbie Watson.

The championships took place over four weekends across February and March 2014, the first at Crystal Palace and the remaining three weekends at Medway Park, Gillingham.
