Herne Bay Swimming Club had a fantastic start to the new year at the Icebreaker Gala at Kingsmead Pool on 2nd and 3rd January.

21 swimmers aged 9 to 18 took part in the event and between them took home a staggering 49 medals - 22 medals were Gold, 16 Silver and 11 Bronzes.

Top performers included Olly Edwards age 11 who won 10 Gold and Silver medals, Rose Douglas-Sutton also 11 who won 9 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, Charley Langford aged 12 who won 5 Gold and Silver medals, Scarlett Fraser age 9 who won 4 Gold and Silver Medals, Emmett Holdsworth aged 11 who won 3 Gold and Bronze medals and 17 year old Jordan Butler who won 4 Silver and Bronze medals.

Gold medal winning performances also came from Evie Slater age 9 (in two events), Scarlett Langford age 10 and Georgia Miles age 16.

Other Silver and Bronze medalists were Freddie Evans (10) , Ethan Sales (11), Louis Johnson (11), Nathan Packman (13) and Ethan Bexley (15).

Other swimmers who took part at Icebreaker and got excellent results were Brooke Olson (9), Keira Twyman (10), Ella Kimble (11), Benjamin Wright (12), Freddie Wright (12), Adam Miles (13) and Dominic Matthews (18).

The team picked up plenty of consideration times for the Kent County Championships later this month to which 18 of our swimmers have entered.
