Icebreaker gala 2015

Herne Bay Swimming Club had a very successful weekend at The Ice Breaker Gala in Canterbury. This was the final opportunity of the season for swimmers to qualify for the 2015 Kent County Championships. HBSC took a team of 19 swimmers aged 9 to 18 to this 2 day event.

Team captain Jordan Butler won gold and broke the club record for the 100m Backstroke in a time of 1.01.46. He then went on to take 4 silver medals and a bronze.

14 year old Samantha Goodwin took gold in the 200m breaststroke plus a silver and a bronze. 11 year old Charley Langford took gold in the 200m Backstroke as well as a silver medal. 16 year old Connor Reynolds took gold in the 200m Butterfly and 16 year old Chloe Gambrill brought home a silver. Zack Rothman took 2 bronze medals and 9 year olds Jake Alberga and Scarlett Langford took bronze in the 50 metres freestyle, both qualifying for the Kent Championships.

Finalist medals went to Connor Reynolds, Josh Dunk, Chloe Gambrill, Ethan Bexley, Tilly Compton, Charley Langford, Zack Rothman, Oliver Edwards, Owen Hayes and Niall Beaumont.

Herne Bay now has 22 swimmers with qualifying times for the Kent Championships which will be held in February and March.

18 Mar 2024Tuesday 19th March 2024 - Club Champs Session 3 (800m Free) - No Club Training
Our Club Champs 2024 Session 3 is only for those swimmers who have applied to enter the 800m Event. It is on Tuesday 19th March 2024 at Whitstable. Accepted Entries have all been sent out by email to everyone. Reminders have also been emailed out there is no training to those who declined their invite or did not respond to the 800m Event Invite. No further entries can be accepted due to Session time constraints. Session 3 will be a fantastic opportunity for swimmers to gain long distance racing experince in a familar setting and to gain a first time or new PB in their 800m Freestyle Event. The Session 3 is only for those swimmers who have applied and have been accepted to enter the 800m by the Closing Date. Session 3 is Licensed as a Level 4 competition, so any early qualifying times could be bagged for next years Kent County Champs. No regular Senior Training will run on Tuesday 19th March 2024 if you are not participating in this Session's Event. Non-participant Club members who wish to support their team mates are of course more than welcome to watch the Session on Tuesday 19th March from the Reception area.

Our Club Champs 2024 Session 2 for the Lanes 1-7 only is on Tuesday 5th March 2024 at Whitstable. Acceptances have all been sent out by email to everyone. It's the start of our Club Champs 2024 with Session1A for the Juniors only and Session 1B for the Seniors Only on Friday 1st March 2024 at Herons. Acceptances have all been sent out by email to everyone. Reminders have also been emailed out to remind there is no training to those who declined their invite or did not respond. Session 1A will be a fantastic opportunity for new Juniors (and not so new Juniors) to gain racing experince in a familar setting, and for Seniors Squad to gain a first time or new PB in their 400m IM. The Session 1A is for Lanes 6-10 inclusive for all Junior Squad swimmers who have accepted their Invite by the Closing Date. The Session 1B is for Lanes 1-5 inclusive for all Senior Squad swimmers who have accepted their Invite by the Closing Date. The Senior Session 1B is Licensed as a Level 4 competition, so any early qualifying times could be bagged for next years Kent County champs. No regular Club Training Session will run on Friday 1st March 2024 if you are not participating in this Session's Event(s). Non-participant Club members who wish to support their team mates are of course more than welcome to watch the Session on Friday 1st March from the blacony area.

The 50m Sprints Session is Licensed as a Level 4 competition. No regular Club Training Session will run on Friday 12th Jan 2024 if you are not participating in this Session's Event(s).
